Holiday traditions were alive and well in Portland’s Living Room this holiday season. With over 29 holiday events and a total attendance of over 36,500, Downtown was pulsing with holiday spirit as 2019 came to a close.

On the day after Thanksgiving, Pioneer Courthouse Square came alive as 20,000 community members gathered to watch Portland’s Tree illuminate with 14,000 LED bulbs. This year’s attendees were able to sing a little bit louder thanks to a 5.5’ X 20’ LED video screen and a new partnership with Portland’s own, Really Big Video. You can see the screen in action and watch the recap of the night’s events below.

Carrying on with some of Portland’s favorite holiday traditions were The Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition presented by Portland Mall Management, Inc. and The 29th Annual Tuba Christmas Concert presented by SmartPark. This year’s caroling competition saw its largest turnout ever with 234 carolers and thousands of attendees who filled the 10 downtown blocks of the Pioneer District with festive music and holiday cheer. The following day Downtown was pulsing with the sounds of booming brass. A record breaking 312 tuba players from all over Oregon and Washington joined together and filled the Square with holiday classics along with vocal accompaniment from the Portland Opera. More than 6,500 attendees joined in the fun and filled the Square to witness a truly remarkable and one-of-a-kind musical experience! If you missed out on any of this year’s free and festive events, you can catch-up on the fun below!
